Tell us about your education and continuing training.
I attended the Desert Institute of the healing Arts in Tucson, AZ (1997). This was an incredible, supportive learning environment, very different from the previous 4-year University experience. This alternative career allowed me the flexibility to travel and explore several mountain towns. Working, exploring and playing in these beautiful communities. I was fortunate to have lived in Winter Park & Aspen, CO, Mammoth Lakes, Ca, eventually landing in Sandpoint, ID where I called home for 15 years.
Sometimes taking a leap, listening to your inner voice and not succumbing to pressures to follow a certain path, actually works out. This bolstered my free spirited nature (aka ADHS) while providing me with a meaningful way to connect with, and help others. Emphasizing how important a work-life balance is to mine & your wellbeing!
Additionally, I went back to school in 2018 to pursue a physical therapist assistance Degree. I worked in an outpatient clinic during Covid, only to come full-circle to return full time to the practice I love. I decided to expand my practice, with the addition of other massage therapists, bring diversity that I alone could not provide. We also began offering insurance billing in order to serve our communities better.

How did you discover massage therapy and what attracted you to it?
As a kid it was common for my siblings and I to form a “massage train” and at the gym, my fellow teammates and I often traded back rubs. So, touch was an early and common experience for me even though my family wasn’t that “touchy feely”. I was aware of the healing power of touch early on from these experiences. After college my family gifted me a trip with NOLS. I was sort of at a loss as to what was next for me. On this trip I met a massage therapist, and asked him a million questions. I was not aware that massage therapy was a career option. He inspired me to consider massage therapy. When I returned home, I enrolled in massage school, without ever receiving a professional massage!

What do you want people to know about their bodies and self-care?
We have the power to impact our health with such innate, and simple principles. Don’t put junk in your body, on your body or in your mind. Incorporate daily movement that brings you joy and makes you sweat. For me this is my daily moving meditation. It sets the tone for the day, clears my head and energizes me.
I like to encourage my clients to incorporate self care strategies by utilizing mobility and stretching tools in between massage sessions.
Prioritize sleep, good food and hydration. Practice joy, love & grace.

What is your favorite part of the body to work on?
Low back, hips and legs!
I reference from my own body experiences. As a cyclist, runner and snowboarder for many decades, my body certainly speaks to me about it.
I have come to recognize the central role that the hips play. Starting at the hips and either working down, up or both to unravel bound up fascial seems a crucial place to start in addressing many issues. A close second, if not in a tie with the hips, is the thoracic spine. Taking the brunt of our modern world, impacting how we carry ourselves and the health of the rest of our spine .
Fascia is truly fascinating…

Favorite thing to do outside of bodywork?
Outside of work life, I am a mountain biker, sometimes gravel rider, a runner preferable trail, and a powder hound.
I am a wife, a dog-mom, a sister & daughter. We enjoy time in the kitchen to create and share a nourishing meal. And traveling to experience our passions in new places, see some music and discover good eats.
These things fill my cup so that I can be a better therapist for you!
